Nipple problems can relate to either the skin or deeper structures such as the milk ducts and breast tissue. Any changes of the skin around the nipple or alterations in the shape should be investigated. Spontaneous nipple discharge can be normal but can also be associated with underlying disease and again should be seen by a specialist, particularly if it is originating from one spot and is either clear or bloodstained. Triple assessment is undertaken and, unless a biopsy is required, we should have the results available for you on the same day. Should a biopsy be required, you will be seen again the following week.
